Polo Ralph Lauren Announces Decision to Remove Fur from its Collections
(New York) June 8, 2006 - The Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation today announced that the Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation is removing fur from all of its merchandise and home collections. "Fur has never been an integral part of our design strategy as we had only used it on a limited basis as an accent in some collections," said a Polo Ralph Lauren spokesperson. "We are publicly announcing this decision because the use of fur has been under review internally and we feel that the time is right to take this action."

"Ralph Lauren clothes have always been elegant, but now you can feel comfortable inside and out knowing that the company has made this compassionate decision," said PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. Polo Ralph Lauren will eliminate the use of fur on a worldwide basis beginning with its holiday 2006 collections. In addition, as part of the initiative, Polo Ralph Lauren will donate 1,200 new units of women's clothing containing fur to a charitable organization, which, in keeping with Polo Ralph Lauren's philanthropic tradition, will distribute them to an international relief organization for distribution to those in need.

The Company has also sent PETA a signed statement acknowledging its intent to no longer include fur in its future collections.
