NEW YORK, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Club Monaco will open its first Florida location at 624 Collins Avenue today. The two level 7,500 square foot store is located in the heart of the Art Deco district of Miami's South Beach. The store's first floor will house fashions for men and the Club Monaco Cosmetics Collection and the second floor will house women's fashion. The space was designed by internationally renown, New York-based architect Deborah Berke. Ms. Berke also designed Club Monaco's recently opened U.S. flagship on New York's Fifth Avenue and Fifty-fifth Street.

Clean and modern in design, the South Beach store is unique in its use of light and space. A focal point of the interior space is the main stairwell, which will be clad in rough-cut limestone, playing off the finely finished stainless steel railing. The building's exterior, including its stucco facade, has been restored to its original condition. The wall display units are framed in walnut and the dark stained cherry wood floors will be offset by clean white walls. Sophisticated yet welcoming, all Club Monaco stores have architectural elements that juxtapose warm materials with cool ones, smoothness with texture.

Club Monaco is a dynamic, international retail concept that designs, manufactures and markets Club Monaco clothing, accessories, cosmetics and home collection. Each season, Club Monaco edits the trends in clothing offering men and women key fashion pieces that are the foundation of a modern wardrobe. Currently, Club Monaco operates more than 100 stores worldwide and by January 2001 the company will have 21 Club Monaco stores in the United States. Club Monaco is a subsidiary of Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation (NYSE: RL - news).
